On October 14th, over 200 Gladney friends and family members gathered in New York City for a day on the water. Families who have adopted from China joined Ms. Gan Weiwei, Deputy Director-General of the China Center for Children's Welfare and Adoption, CCCWA Delegates, and Orphanage Directors in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Amidst a sea of colorful balloons and lanterns, children enjoyed getting their faces painted, making crafts, and spending the afternoon with friends, both new and old.
Pat Marcus, Pediatric Physical Therapist and Superkids Volunteer, helped guests decorate fabric squares that will become a very special tribute quilt. The quilt will be presented to the CCCWA Delegation later this year during the China Winter Tour in honor of those children still waiting for their own adoption.
The day was capped off with a beautiful traditional dance performance by professional Chinese dancer, Shally Zhang, and her students from the Ying Dance Center. Thank you to all of the Gladney friends and volunteers who made this day such a huge success!
